Although subscribing
to eNATAL in an Application Service Provider (ASP) model is ideal for solo
practitioners and small group practices, there is also a need to provide
the immediate and obvious value of eNATAL to enlightened enterprises whether
they are single hospitals, large groups, integrated health delivery networks,
or government agencies. These enterprises may wish to provide eNATAL services
to all of the practices in their community or network and may already have
the necessary human and computing resources to host a secure and complex
web application.
Advantages of eNATAL Enterprise:
- The enterprise can immediately make available to the community or
large group a tested solution for lost or inaccessible prenatal records
and can assist all providers in the community to deliver the care that
they intend.
- Implementing eNATAL could be the first step towards creating a common
prenatal record for all providers in the enterprise.
- The eNATAL prenatal record can be modified by the enterprise to match
its own "ideal" prenatal record or to match that of any other
pre-existing prenatal record, and can be changed at will.
- Individual practices and groups within the enterprise can tailor features
of eNATAL (telephone number lists, customized care plans, access privileges
to their patients, etc.) to meet their own needs and practice standards.
- Clinical data may reside locally rather than at a third-party location
(although a commercially-hosted site may be ideal for those enterprises
that lack sufficient technical expertise) and readily available for
statistical reporting and evidence-based research.
- The eNATAL clinical decision support engine that identifies patient
risks/problems and creates both patient and risk-specific care plans
with automated reminders can be fine-tuned to the specifications of
the enterprise.
- Can save the enterprise most of the expense to comply with the HIPAA
privacy regulations regarding prenatal records because eNATAL puts the
enterprise in immediate compliance (until, of course, the eNATAL records
are printed on paper).
- Can be privately "branded", marketed, and sold as a service
to loosely or non-affiliated providers in the enterprise.
- Can be integrated into existing enterprise web-based initiatives (e.g.
medical records, physician services).
- And finally, eNATAL is a clinically-tested solution that is available
NOW, can be installed within a week, and would be completely operational
minutes later.
Sole Requirement
A local "champion" who understands the value and potential impact
of eNATAL and has the influence and persistence to transform the delivery
of prenatal care in the community or enterprise.
